Medical / Cosmetic Disclaimer

Last updated: May 2025

Ybonis Beauty Spa (“we,” “us,” or “our”) offers a range of cosmetic and medical-aesthetic services under the oversight of our Medical Director. The following disclaimer applies to all services, products, and information provided through our spa and website.

Medical Director Oversight

Certain advanced aesthetic treatments offered at Ybonis Beauty Spa — including but not limited to botulinum toxin injections (Botox), dermal fillers, biostimulators, RF Microneedling (Morpheus8), laser hair removal, IPL laser treatments, chemical peels, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), pellet insertion, and IV fluid therapy — are performed under the supervision of a licensed Medical Director in accordance with Massachusetts law and applicable professional standards.

All licensed injectors and clinicians operate within their legal scope of practice, hold current credentials, and maintain malpractice insurance covering aesthetic procedures. Standing orders governing each treatment type are reviewed annually and updated to align with evolving practice standards.

Not a Substitute for Medical Advice

The treatments, products, and information offered by Ybonis Beauty Spa are cosmetic and aesthetic in nature. Nothing provided on this website or through our services constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment of any medical condition or disease. Always consult a licensed physician or qualified healthcare provider before beginning any new aesthetic treatment — particularly if you have an existing medical condition, are pregnant, nursing, or are currently taking prescription medications.

Informed Consent Required

Prior to receiving any medical-aesthetic service, clients are required to review and sign a written informed consent form. This consent covers:

  • The nature, purpose, and expected outcomes of the procedure
  • Known risks, side effects, and potential complications
  • Alternatives to the procedure and the right to decline treatment
  • No guarantee of specific results — multiple sessions may be required
  • Authorization to take clinical photographs for records and, with your permission, marketing
  • Payment responsibility at the time of service; no refunds on services rendered

Consent is voluntary. You have the right to withdraw your consent or discontinue treatment at any time, without affecting the care you receive for future appointments.

Telehealth Authorization

For clients receiving care through virtual consultations or telehealth, we comply with U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) telehealth guidelines. Virtual exams are conducted via HIPAA-compliant platforms. You have the right to revoke your telehealth authorization in writing at any time; revocation does not affect actions already taken under the prior authorization.

Treatment-Specific Information

Botulinum Toxin (Botox / Neuromodulators)

Botulinum toxin injections are used to relax dynamic facial muscles. Possible side effects include: local pain, swelling, bruising, redness, headache, flu-like symptoms, and — in rare cases — temporary eyelid, brow, or mouth drooping, impaired vision, or spread of toxin effect to adjacent muscles. Drooping may last several weeks. This procedure is not suitable for pregnant or nursing women. Results are not guaranteed, and multiple treatments are typically required. No refunds are issued for completed treatments.

Dermal Fillers & Biostimulators

Fillers (e.g., Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, Sculptra) restore volume and smooth wrinkles. Risks include: swelling, bruising, infection, allergic reaction, herpes reactivation, lumpiness, granuloma formation, and in rare cases, vascular occlusion or localized tissue necrosis. Results are temporary (typically 4–6 months or longer). Hyaluronidase can be used to reverse hyaluronic acid fillers if needed.

RF Microneedling (Morpheus8)

This treatment uses fractional radiofrequency energy to improve skin texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. Side effects may include: pain, redness, swelling, crusting, blistering, temporary pigmentation changes (hyper- or hypo-pigmentation), and rarely scarring. Redness and swelling may last up to 3 weeks. Makeup can generally be applied within 1–3 days post-treatment.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure requiring multiple sessions. Results vary based on skin tone, hair color, and hormonal factors. A consultation and patch test are required prior to treatment. Side effects may include: pain, redness, swelling, pigmentation changes, and rarely scarring. Full medical disclosure is required at consultation.

IPL Laser (Lumecca)

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments address skin discoloration and vascular lesions. Side effects may include: redness, swelling, crusting, pigmentation changes, and rarely scarring. Multiple sessions are typically required.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels remove outer skin layers to improve texture and discoloration. Side effects include: swelling, tightening, scabbing, peeling, prolonged redness, and possible permanent changes in skin pigmentation. Not all clients will visibly “peel” — this does not mean the treatment was ineffective. Avoid excessive sun exposure for 3–5 days post-treatment; daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is required.

IV Fluid Therapy

IV therapy delivers fluids, nutrients, or medications directly into the bloodstream. Risks include: pain, bruising, or bleeding at the insertion site; infection; allergic reactions; infiltration (fluid leaking into surrounding tissue); phlebitis; and rarely more serious complications. Participation is voluntary and consent may be withdrawn at any time.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) & Pellet Insertion

HRT and hormone pellet procedures are elective treatments with potential risks and benefits that will be individually discussed with the supervising provider. Testosterone supplementation may be prescribed for off-label use when clinically appropriate. Laboratory monitoring is required. Insurance coverage is not guaranteed. The hormone pellet insertion procedure is not FDA-approved for all indications at the doses used, and this will be disclosed to you prior to consent.

Lymphatic Massage

Lymphatic massage services are performed for relaxation and general wellness support. They are not intended to replace post-surgical medical care. Clients recovering from surgery must provide written clearance from their physician before scheduling.

Skincare Products

All skincare products sold by Ybonis Beauty Spa are for external cosmetic use only. Follow all label instructions. Discontinue use and consult a dermatologist if irritation occurs. Do not apply to broken, inflamed, or infected skin.

Shapewear / Fajas

Shapewear products are for cosmetic body-shaping purposes only and are not medical-grade compression garments. Do not use as a substitute for post-surgical compression wear prescribed by a physician without medical approval.

Individual Results & No Guarantee

Results from our services and products vary based on individual factors including skin type, health history, lifestyle, hormonal factors, and adherence to aftercare instructions. No specific outcome is guaranteed. Promotional items and packages have no refund value. Multiple treatments are often necessary to achieve desired results.

Photography & Confidentiality

Clinical photographs and videos may be taken before, during, and after procedures for your patient record. Images revealing your identity will not be used for marketing or publication without your express written consent. Images where your identity is not revealed may be used internally for training or quality purposes.

Limitation of Liability

Ybonis Beauty Spa and its staff, Medical Director, and licensed providers shall not be held liable for any adverse reactions, injuries, or outcomes resulting from services or products when accurate and complete health information was not disclosed prior to treatment, or when post-treatment care instructions were not followed.
